Donald Swanson, age 70 of Danbury, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at a local hospital. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM on Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Donald Dean Swanson, son of Anvey and Zeta (Puckett) Swanson, was born March 13, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended a one-room country school through the sixth grade and moved on to North Junior High in Sioux City. He left school after the eighth grade and started farming with his father. Donald then joined the Army where he got his GED and served his country in Vietnam. He was united in marriage with Judi Kroll on May 5, 1974; this marriage was later dissolved. Two children were born to this union: Audrey Joy and Adem Martin. Don is survived by: his children Audrey (Corbet) Miner from Sioux Falls, SD; and Adem (Alexis) Swanson of Bloomington, CA and grandsons Solomon and Phoenix Miner and yet unborn grandson in California. His friend Violet Widemon in Danbury; one brother Stanley (Doug) Swanson of Colorado Springs, 3 sisters: Nancy (Paul) Trawicki of Denver, Elsie (George) Kamm of Branson, MO and Carol (Ed) McNiece of Worthington, MN, many nieces and nephews and other extended family. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one older brother Milton, one younger brother Leland and numerous aunts and uncles.
