Eugene Windeshausen, age 79, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, surrounded by family at home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Friday, May 29, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, where the family will be present from 6 PM to 8 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM. Eugene Windeshausen, son of Nick and Catherine (Korth) Windeshausen, was born April 7, 1936, in Osmond, Nebraska. He graduated from High School in 1954 and went to the University of Nebraska prior to serving in the U.S. Navy. On January 9, 1960, Gene was united in marriage with Patricia Tubbs. Gene continued his education at Wayne State College and graduated with a teaching degree. He taught five years in Osmond before moving to Sioux City in 1966. He continued his education at Morningside College to receive his Master's Degree and then went part-time to the University of South Dakota, to get his administrative certification. He was a teacher and principal in the Sioux City School District for 35 years, retiring in 2001. Gene is survived by: his wife Pat; three sons: Troy (Barb), Paul (Connie) and Brad; six grandchildren: Philip, Brogan, Breckyn, Carson, Kendra, and Kyle; two great-grandchildren: Paige and Parker (children of Philip and Megan); two brothers; five sisters; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother; two sisters; six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
