Maxine Church-Oakes, age 93, of Sioux City, Iowa, went peaceably to be with our Lord Jesus on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Casa De Paz Nursing Home in Sioux City. A graveside service for family, relatives, and friends, will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Maxine L. Oakes was born to Leo and Inez (Oakley) Church on March 7, 1922, Winnebago, Nebraska. Maxine was first married to Melvin McClarty and later married Arthur W. Oakes and both preceded her in death. Maxine had 5 children Bernadine (Hill) McLarty (deceased), Gary McLarty (deceased), Robert Oakes (Debi) of Kansas City, MO, Eldon Oakes of Iowa City, IA, and Artis Oakes-Neal (Brian) of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by sisters, Iris Church-Jump of Homer, NE, Lola Church-Butcher of Dakota City, NE, and sister-in-law Edna Church of Macy, NE, and daughter-in-law Hillorie McLarty of N. Hollywood, CA. Maxine has 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great- grandchildren. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews as well. Brothers and sisters that preceded her in death are, Donnie Church, Glendora McCulloch, Willard Church, Maynard Church, Ariel (Chub) Church, and Cleo Church. Maxine had been a resident of Casa De Paz Care Center in Sioux City for a number of years. Maxine was always the life of the party at family functions, friend's gatherings, and at Casa De Paz. She had a long and fulfilling life in her eyes and may God rest her everlasting soul. The family wishes to extend their thanks for the care given by Casa De Paz and memorials for Maxine can be sent to them.
