Barry Edward Bramstedt, 62, of Dakota Dunes, SD passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at his home following a lengthy illness. Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Morningside Lutheran Church with Reverend Darrin Vick officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. with family present from 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Barry was born September 8, 1952 in Rock Rapids, Iowa the son of Edward and Lillian (Watke) Bramstedt. He graduated from West Lyon High School in 1970 and then attended Western Iowa Tech for Livestock Marketing. Barry married Nancy Morehead on May 29, 1976 in Sioux City. Barry farmed near Hinton, IA for 33 years before moving to Dakota Dunes. In 1971 he worked for Switzer-Beeson Commission Firm before partnering with Midwest Livestock at the Sioux City Stockyards in 1982. In 1987 he partnered with Poky Feeders Inc. in Scott City, KS. Barry also owned and operated Bramstedt Trucking. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran church and served two terms on the Hinton School Board. Barry is survived by his wife Nancy Bramstedt of Dakota Dunes, SD; daughters Allison (Will) Poulson of Hinton, IA and Ashley (Kirk) Kooken of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Hannah and Ella Poulson, and Nash and Berkley Kooken; sister Glennis (Denny) Niemi Chrissinger; mother in law Shirley Morehead, brother in laws: Charles (Patty) Morehead, Scott (Sue) Morehead, and Terry (Liz) Morehead; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lillian Bramstedt, infant twin daughters Sarah and Sally Bramstedt, father in law Virgil Morehead, and brother in law Bruce Niemi. Memorials may be made in Barry's memory to Hospice of Siouxland. The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland for their compassionate care and a sincere thank you to special nurse Liz.
