Wanda E. Erickson

Wanda E. Erickson, 96, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at a local care center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Wanda was born May 5, 1919 in Merrill, Iowa the daughter of Gerd H. and Elise (Popkin) Johnson. She graduated from Merrill High School. Wanda married Vance Erickson on December 12, 1940 in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed before moving to Sloan in 1952. Wanda worked for Younkers as a buying agent before retiring in 1976. The couple then moved to Sun City, Arizona before returning to Sioux City in 2004. Vance preceded Wanda in death on December 14, 2004 in Sioux City. Wanda and Vance were avid travelers, sight-seeing the world from the comfort of their many campers. She also loved to play various card games. Wanda is survived by her friend Harold Abbott of Whiting, IA; 11 Nieces and Nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
