John C. Dennison, 81, of Sioux City, formerly of Jefferson, SD passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at a VA Foster Home in Sioux City. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Jefferson, SD with Father Joe Vogel officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the St. Peters Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com John was born on June 12, 1933 in Sioux City to Tom and Garnet (Hammerstrom) Dennison. He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended USD. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. John was united in marriage to Pat Bristol on November 3, 1972 in Elk Point, SD. To this union there were 3 children. The marriage later ended in divorce. He worked as a farmer operating in the Jefferson, SD area. He also spent time working at Park Jefferson and Sodrack Park. John enjoyed following local sports going to any and all games when time allowed. He was also a supporter of the Sioux City Explores baseball club. In his younger years he enjoyed watching the various teams that competed in the Penn Corp Softball League. He was also very involved with various boards including Jefferson County Commissioner, South East Farmers Elevator Board, and Jefferson Township Board. He was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Jefferson. He is survived by his 3 sons Dan (Frances) Dennison of Bellevue, NE; Corey Dennison of Bellevue, NE; and Tom (Fiancée) Chastidy of Jefferson, SD; ex-wife Pat (Dean) Bosse of Elk Point, SD; 8 grandchildren; sister Margy Hayden (Don Zirbel) of Arkansas; niece Cari Hayden and nephew Brian Hayden (Holly Werner) both of CO; and a cousin Mary Kerr of MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
