Merlyn T. Olson

Merlyn T. Olson, 73 of Pierce formerly of Norfolk, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Pierce Manor. There are no services planned at this time. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel of Sioux City assisted the family with arrangements. Merlyn T. Olson was born on September 4, 1940 at Sharon, North Dakota the son of Thelmer and Miranda (Gunderson) Olson. He attended school in Cooperstown, ND. He enlisted in the Army and served from November 8, 1957 until November 13, 1960 including time in Greenland. Merlyn worked as a master mechanic and spent many years working on the northern slopes of the Alaskan pipeline. Merlyn is survived by his 3 daughters: Doreen (Carl) Sampson, DeAnne Olson-Schlote both of Norfolk and Rochelle (Jesse) Ballesteros of Las Vegas, NV, and one sister Mryna Mae Olson of Valley City, ND. Merlyn is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by 2 grandsons Brandon Olson and Sgt. Robert Schlote
