SIOUX CITY | Robert F. "Bob" Richter Sr., 83, of Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hawarden, IA. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Bob was born April 7, 1932 in Sioux City the son of Theodore and Nellie (Harper) Richter. He met his wife, Delores Nelson in Hudson, SD. They were married on Nov. 8, 1949 in Hawarden. In early years he was a salesman and he broke and trained horses. He worked as a custodial engineer at Hawthorne Elementary and at the Central Annex for many years. Bob's passion was country music. He started his own band, the Rancheros in 1971 and played bass guitar. In 2010, he was inducted into America's Old Time Music Hall of Fame in Anita, IA. He was a member of the Siouxland Country Music Association. Bob loved to go camping and jam around the campfire and square dancing. He also enjoyed tinkering with his garden tractors. Survivors include his wife, Delores; 3 sons and their wives, Ron and Nodja Richter of San Diego, CA, Mick and Patty Richter and Rob and Linda Richter all of Sioux City; 3 sisters-in-law, Margaret Richter, Deanna Nelson both of Hawarden and Linda Richter of Spokane, WA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
