Michael David Hammond, 53, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 with Neil Peck officiating at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A visitation will be 2 hours prior to service time at the funeral home. The family respectfully requests that you show Mike support of his favorite sports teams by dressing in either Iowa Hawkeye or Chicago Bears apparel. Masonic graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Mike was born on November 28, 1961 in Des Moines, IA to Merlin LeRoy and Annette Kay (Frazier) Hammond. He was the Sr. Vice President of Operations at Gateway. He managed the day to day operations of manufacturing. Mike also owned Dakota Muscle Cars in North Sioux City following the Gateway days. He united in married to Lisa Hunt on July 2, 2011 in Okoboji, IA. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2015 in Sioux City. Mike enjoyed golfing with his son, cars, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan. Mike recently became a member of the Free Masons. He is survived by his son Mike Hammond of Vermillion, SD; daughter Jessica Hammond of Sioux City; their mother Jolene White of Sioux City; and step children Jim Most; Hank Stoltze; Melissa Most; Sara (Jeremy) Robinson; and Abbie Most; 4 grandchildren Emma Snyder; Ben Steffen; Stacie Snyder; and Kellen Robinson; brother Mark Douglas (Donna) Hammond of Oxford, MS; and a sister Macia Ann DePhlippo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Tom Hammond.
