Lillian Thomas, 90 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her residence after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Southern Hills Baptist Church. Rev. David Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Lillian was born May 14, 1926 in Rock Valley, IA; she was the daughter of Richard and Julia (Mares) Steck. Lillian grew up in Rock Valley and came to Sioux City in 1941. She married Raymond Thomas, Sr. September 14, 1946 in Sioux City; he passed away on February 13, 1984 in Sioux City.
Lillian worked for Standard Brands, Irving Elementary School and the Court St. Group Home. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Siouxland Senior Center. Lillian loved to dance.
Survivors include her children: Sandra King and her husband Tony of Sioux City, Raymond Thomas, Jr. of Sioux City; her granddaughter: Chloe Jo Thomas of Rockville, MD. Lillian is also survived by nieces, nephews and her cousins.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, a sister Marie Whitesell and a brother Richard Steck.
