Joann E. Mann, 86 of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, March 23, 1017 at Brookdale Senior Living.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Joann was born November 14, 1930 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Frederick and Gladys (Murphy) Marks. Joann grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. After high school, Joann began working in the Woodbury County Assessor’s Office.

 

On April 7, 1956, Joann married Vincent G. Mann in Sioux City. Joann left the Accessor’s office to be a full time Mom. She later worked for several years at Emerson School and left there when she became a Minema (Grandma) to care for and spoil her grandkids. Her husband passed away on July 19, 2012 in Sioux City.

 

Joann was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and enjoyed playing golf in the Sun Valley Ladies Golf League. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, most recently playing cards in the evening with the ladies at Brookdale.

 

Survivors include her daughters: Kim Manley and her husband Scott of South Sioux City, NE, Kathleen Mann and Eric Waldon of Sioux City; 2 sisters: Shirley Hansen and her husband Doc of Sioux City, Merrie Stinger of South Sioux City, NE; her brother: Dick Marks and his wife Kay of Hinton, IA; 5 grandchildren: Nicole Olson, Elizabeth Manley, Trynn, Kelsie and Alexander Waldon and 2 great granddaughters.

 

Joann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter Megan Manley and a grandson Benjamin Waldon; 2 brothers Donald and Robert.
