Sioux City, IA | Donna M. Pinney, 86, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Donna was born Nov. 17, 1930 in South Sioux City, Nebr. the daughter of Clyde and Margaret (Gray) French. She worked at Kresge’s Dime Store and then at the Orpheum Theater.
On May 1, 1947 she married Jack J. Pinney in South Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City where they raised ten children. She later worked as a surgical technician at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Donna was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was an organist for many years. She was also an organist at the Cathedral of The Epiphany and served as a Eucharistic minister and a lector there. She was a Pro-Life advocate.
She enjoyed being active in the Red Hat Society and playing Bunco with her friends.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; children, Joanne Pierson, Delno (Kathy) Pinney, Kathy Baker all of Sioux City, Terri (Tim) Huff of Lebanon Junction, KY, Kim (Mike) Henshaw, Jim (Brenda) Pinney, Dave (Christine) Pinney, Patrick Pinney, Tay Pinney all of Sioux City and Christi Pinney of Hull, IA; sister, Clyda (Clarence) Novotny of Texas; 34, grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John Hooks; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jade Baker and Samuel Kazos.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brett Hollingshead, Jack Baker, Mike Stabile, David Pinney, Mike Pinney and Josh Pinney.
