Richard Gottburg passed away July 12, 2017 at a local nursing facility. Visitation and time of sharing will be Friday, July 14th from 5pm-8pm with family present. Internment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Dick was born May 17, 1927 in Allentown, PA. He grew up in Schleswig, Iowa where he attended high school. While there he worked for his father at the local funeral home. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He came home to Sioux City where his parents had moved and in 1952 he joined the local Air National Guard. He met Alberta Turner at the local Eagles Club and married her on December 18, 1954. Dick worked for Fethke Cleaners, Walt’s Standard, Interbake Foods, and Charlie Zook Motors. He enjoyed watching Westerns and War movies and enjoyed fishing and watching sports of all kinds. Richard was a season ticket holder of the Sioux City Musketeers and a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He saw Babe Ruth on a barnstorming tour play at the Sioux City stockyards in the 1930’s and even shook his hand. Dick is survived by Alberta, his wife of 62 years, children Terry(Lisa) Gottburg, Kim(Rod)Hewitt, and Todd Gottburg, and grandchildren Ryan Hewitt, Tyler Hewitt, Robert Gottburg and Patrick Gottburg.
