Sheryl A. (Hoffman) Honomichl, 58, of North Sioux City, SD died Thursday, August 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (5010 Military Rd.) in Sioux City with Father Terry Roder, Celebrant. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Jefferson, SD. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd.) with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
Sheryl Ann, daughter of Clyde and Patricia Ann (Null) Hoffman, was born September 26, 1958 in Sioux City, IA. Sheryl grew up in the North Sioux City and Jefferson, SD area. She graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1976. During her senior year, she was named homecoming queen and was on the State B Basketball Championship Team.
On August 20, 1977, Sheryl was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Honomichl at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson. This union was blessed with four children: Daniel, Amanda, Mary and Jessica. The family made their home in southern Union County, SD. Sheryl and Tony later divorced but remained lifelong friends. She worked at Interbake Foods for twenty-eight years retiring in 2008 and in recent years worked as a phlebotomist at Bio Life.
Sheryl enjoyed going out to dinner with her daughter, playing video lottery games with her mom and traveling to visit family. Above all, she enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Sheryl will be remembered for her sense of humor, being a great role model to her family, and being a dedicated worker. She had a huge heart and she would do anything for her family.
Sheryl is survived by her four children: Daniel (Jenna) Honomichl of Bloomington, MN, Amanda (Seth) DeBoer, Mary Honomichl and Jessica Honomichl all of North Sioux City; grandchildren: Lincoln Honomichl, Memphis DeBoer, Phoebe Honomichl and baby girl DeBoer to be born August 2017; her mother, Patricia Hoffman of North Sioux City; brothers: Terry (Duster) Hoffman, Victor Hoffman (Karen Rydstrom) and Kevin (Courtney) Hoffman all of North Sioux City; sisters: Carol (Ron) Brumage of Byers, CO and Carmen (Paul) Wagner of Salix, IA; nephews: Corey, Justin, Derek, David, Ronnie Jr., Ben, Vincent and Vaughn; nieces: Angela, Stacey, Nicole and Haley; two great nephews; three great nieces and a small army of cousins.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Hoffman; sister, Janet Hoffman; nephew, Curt Hoffman; and several aunts and uncles.
