Norma J. Linafelter 87 of South Sioux City passed away Friday February 13, 2015 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday February 21, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with Rev. Kelley Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday February 20, 2015 at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Norma was born January 26, 1928 in Laurel, Nebraska the daughter of Stanley V. and Vergie I. (Hutchings) Starks. She graduated from Allen High school in 1945. She then received her teaching certificate and taught in Normal School in Omaha, Nebraska. She married Albert W. Linafelter February 14, 1947 in Allen, Nebraska. She was a mom and homemaker. She enrolled in W.I.T. for her L.P.N. license graduating in 1967. She retired from St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City and the American Legion Auxiliary in Dakota Cty. She enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, movies, quilting and playing cards. Spending time with her family was an important part of her life. Survivors include: a daughter-in-law: Deborah Linafelther of Clinton, MO, three sons and their wives: Gary and Judy of Alhambra, ILL, Timothy and Cheryl of Waterbury, NE, David and Elly of Tucson, AZ, five daughters and their husbands: Darlene and Vernon Witzka of South Sioux City, Charlotte and Jon Morton of Sioux City, Vickie and Fernando Daleccio of Ft. Walton, FL, Jean and Douglas Fay of Sioux City, Kimberly and Wayne Smith of Waxhaw, NC, three brothers: Darell Starks of Elkhorn, NE, Jim (Carol) Starks of Dakota City, Virgil (Bing) Starks of Omaha, NE, a sister Barbara (Delmar) Holdorf of Wayne, NE, two sisters-in-law: Sandy Starks of Elkhorn, NE and Mildred Linafelter of South Sioux City, 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband Albert October 5, 1999, a son Bill, two brothers: Gordon and Donald, an infant sister Judy, an infant granddaughter Elizabeth and infant grandson Jarred. Pallbearers will be Jon Morton, Fernando Daleccio, Douglas Fay, Wayne Smith, Vernon Witzka, Rick Holdorf and Gene Linafelter. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Jude’s Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
